Blending Traditional Japanese Craftsmanship with Modern Design Aesthetics:

Discover how Hanabusa handcrafted a 350kg Hinoki wood table using traditional Japanese joinery. Ideal inspiration for architects, interior designers, and Japanese restaurant owners seeking authentic, functional elegance.
Sourcing the Finest Hinoki from Japan’s Yoshino Region:

In a remarkable collaboration with a Singaporean client, Hanabusa embarked on creating a monumental solid wood table crafted entirely from Hinoki, also known as Japanese cypress. This exceptional timber is prized in Japan for its tight grain, soft golden hue, natural durability, and soothing fragrance. The Hinoki used for this project was carefully sourced from the historic Yoshino region, an area celebrated for producing premium-grade cypress used in temples, shrines, and traditional architecture.
The Craftsmanship Behind 350kg of Solid Beauty:

The tabletop alone weighs approximately 350 kilograms (772 pounds), a sheer feat in scale and structure. Each table leg, weighing over 100 kilograms (220 pounds), was meticulously carved and fitted using traditional Japanese joinery techniques—no nails or screws—just precision cuts and the natural strength of wood-on-wood craftsmanship.
This level of detail ensures not only structural integrity but also expresses a refined aesthetic that resonates deeply with those in the fields of architecture and interior design. Every joint, every angle, speaks to centuries of honed woodworking tradition.
Traditional Joinery for Strength and Style:

Architects and designers appreciate how traditional joinery doesn’t compromise strength for style—it achieves both. This method enhances the raw beauty of Hinoki, allowing the material to shine without unnecessary hardware or decoration. The outcome is a piece that stands at the intersection of sculpture and function.
